Hear the words shared by one mom who struggled with her new mom journey. She was afraid and felt so much pressure. She struggled with the realization that even though she had everything she wanted – it was nothing like she expected it to be. She was embarrassed by the fact that being a mom was so overwhelming for her.
It has taken a long time and a lot of hard work but she has finally accepted that it is okay to struggle, lots of mom struggle and it was not her fault. She had been through some scary and stressful things but these experiences have taught her that it is okay to show people she is struggling and it is okay to ask for help.
With the support she received – it not only helped her individually but it also helped save her marriage. She and her partner are able to now communicate with each other in meaningful ways (something they did not know how to do previously). They also don’t fight, yell and slam doors like they used to and now her kids get to grow up in a two parent home (because she was worried they would separate at one time).
At the end of our work, she shared that she now has a whole set of tools that they can use to help themselves as they continue to move forward. Such moving and powerful words. Her experience and story are more common than you may realize.
If you are having a hard time, there is hope – just like there was for this mom and her family. Reach out if you are not okay – good help is available.
